For those that got shafted by Play, those nice folk at Argos are still accepting pre-orders for December 8th.
I emailed them to confirm this and got the following reply...
"Thank you for your e-mail regarding the Nintendo Wii console,
We are accepting orders for the pre order console for delivery on the 8th of December, our system takes payment at point of sale and stock is reserved for you until the release date."
