found this on k-tec, is it worth it?

Only you can decide if it is worth it to spend hundreds of pounds to make your car make annoying popping sounds that damage the exhaust or not, personally I wouldnt pay a penny for that, but im not some young chav where as you might be in which case to you its probably good value?

lol i was more interested in the 3rd map?

Ah, sorry mate, I assumed you meant the crackle map from the link title, didnt realise it had normal maps on that page too.

So you mean the map for "Full system with decat and KTR induction kit (3)"

If so, I would expect it to work well enough, but I doubt it will significantly outperform the 98RON RS Tuner map which is far cheaper.

so where can i get that?

and does it come with all the stuff i need to upload it to my car myself?

Yes mate.

You buy the hardware, then you buy the map, then you upload the map, and either keep the hardware (its VERY useful for diagnostics) or sell the hardware.

dnt mean to be a pain, could you please send me a couple of links as the site has lots to choose from!

This is the hardware:
http://www.fastchip.nl/index.php?pa...n=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26&vmcchk=1&Itemid=26

If you buy a secondhand one you need an unlock license:
http://www.fastchip.nl/index.php?pa...ategory_id=33&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26
(the one you want is the cheaper one, the sirius)

Then you need the actual map to load, available here:
http://www.fastchip.nl/index.php?pa...ategory_id=20&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26
so would that map be the right 1 for me with full exhaust system and decat and filter??, im confused:-(

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Yes thats a map that works well with a decat and filter, the one you linked to is just the same thing but with added pops and bangs when you back off at high rpm to win you chav points at the local drivethru carpark late at night etc.

If you put something meaningful in your location, you might find someone useful who already has an RS Tuner offers to help you with doing it for you (either out of the goodness of their heart or for a small fee)

it says that the stage 1 map is included in the kit? is the map that you quoted the same thing or is that the next 1 up?

If you buy a secondhand one, you will need to buy the correct map for your car. Sorry if I wasnt clear enough, if you buy a new one you dont need to buy anything else, just the kit.

After you get a tuner plug it in to car under the ashtray with ignition in position 2, then connect to car by pressing in top left then take a screenshot of the car information which is on left of the screen, then send it to henk(fastchip owner) when you buy the ron98 performance map and he will send you the correct one for your car. the main reason I tell you this is that henk can be a busy guy and sometimes takes day or 2 to reply so if you send him everything he needs at once will speed the process up alot!

All in all tho good bit of kit and worth the money imo. Good for turning off eml lights and fault reading etc.

Really?? i would rather a custom map personally ......

Depends who mapped it and what is actually custom about it. The rs tuner maps work very well for off the shelf chips on that spec of engine.
All my own cars have custom maps but that's because they aren't such a mundane spec so its worth me mapping them individually. Plus obviously it's a case of 'cause I can' so it only costs me my time.

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
henk will do you a custom map for your RS Tuner. thats what im getting done now im running bigger injectors

Will you be sending him datalogs from which to do the fuelling?
How is he going to determine the correct amount of ignition, unless you are meeting him at a rolling road?

i dont know how he does any of what he does, i just send the data logs and upload the new maps when he sends me them, same way hes doing all the megane hybrid turbo setups id imagine

Do you have an rs tuner with wideband lambda input into it? If so your fuelling he should be able to get working very well. The ignition will be no more than an educated guess though realistically.

Nail. Head.

yeah i do, how do mappers usually set ignition when they have the car infront of them on the road or rolling road etc?

You wind ignition on a degree or two at a time and keep measuring it again and again on the rollers and see at each rpm point and each throttle angle what ignition is optimum.
Or on most modern rollers you can hold one specific rpm point and tweak it in real time. Depends on the application which way is best.

Not to steal the thread, but I wonder, would taking my 172 RS clio to a local dyno tuner would be better then RS tuner? Or is that somehow problematic?

They will probably be unable to map it well, the definition files for the ecu aren't public and few tuners have even attempted to decode them let alone had much success.

Well that is a big let down then. I was hoping after so many years there would be something out there that would be easy to use for tuners. However, as I see now, RS tuner is my best bet then.

Nah the 172 ecu is pretty quirky and not something most tuners have any real interest in TBH mate as its not really widely used, so its not worth the time to invest in most cases.

That is highly unfortunate, it is such a fun little car. I somehow have Clio Fever again, the wish to mod and improve it, and love it more. It is quite interesting, because the DD that I use is Mitsu Evo X, but somehow, this little silver RS clio 2 ph1 wins my heart more often.
