Freeware New pc

Ive just built a pc for a friend and am in need of some good freeware to install

This is his first pc....and am unsure on what to install.

Do you guys know of anygood freeware or of anygood freeware sites?....i knew of 1 long ago but for the life of me i cant seem to find it.
