French close factory

Well i have just read over at renaultsport (sorry) that the french close the factory where the R27 is built, for 2 months.


And that only 1 LY car is produced a day!

yes almost all french factories shut down in august for a time.

there is more that one liquid produced a day. they tend to spray them in batches (which make sense), clios and meganes are both assembled on the same production line.

They close for 2 weeks, not 2 months. In fact the whole of France shuts down for 2 weeks in August.

however long it is, it has significant effect on delivery times around this year.

French love there shut down time.

At least it planned there not striking.

All car plants have a summer shut down period. Shutdowns are major times when us contractors move in and do major work. There are various other shutdowns and weekend periods when a lot of work is done. TBH most of you would never have any idea of what goes into building you cars

Without major shutdowns, nothing would ever get done towards getting changes ready.

Did some work up at the Toyota factory in Derby this year. Interesting they spray each car on the line a different colour as each is built to order. So one red, next one black, next one silver etc. The spraying robots have paint cartridges that get loaded by little feeder robots. Pretty cool.
