From 16’s to 17’s my opinion

  Astra 1.9cdti XP

Got my 17s fitted yesterday and went out for a bit of a thrash last night to how they faired.

First of all you can definately tell there is something different! The steering feels slightly different, a little heavier but not not in any bad way. You certainly feel the bumps in the road more and I certainly making an effort to avoid pot holes!

Round the bends it feels much better, I feel more in control more poised and the car feel more grippy and it feels like it rolls less. Only concern I have is I feel that there will be less warning when the back end is going to break away!!

Initially I felt the performance had been affected but at the time I was carrying an extra 4 wheels in the boot . Once they had been removed the car felt the same as before though Im sure it must have had some affect just cant notice it when driving.

To sum up Im well shuffed, look great too!!

I dont know what the 16 Valve is like on 17s but I stuck 17s on a bloody 1.2 16V Corsa and I had to rev the b****cks off it to get it to move off... then it was Ok! (As Ok performance wise as a 1.2 can be... Snigger) :)

Putting 15s on my 1.2 definetly changed everything - did go from 13" steelies though! Better handling, better everything - apart from peformance - but not greatly!

Daz.
