Front Comps

Yesterday I replaced just the front door speakers with my new Alpine Type R's as I will wait for the weekend when I have more time to take the dash off etc.

But the thing is the sound is worse than the renaults standard speakers. Is this just because I haven't got the crossovers set up yet etc.? The bass has practically dissapeared even with the 9855R Bass-Booster setting on.

so you havent done the tweeters?
you dont get bass with components you get clarity and vocals/mid frequencies

Like I said I have just done the door speakers, I'm waiting for the weekend when I have more time before taking the dash off to do the tweeters etc.

I'm aware that comps don't give high bass but yes you still get light bass and I'm currently barely getting anything. Whereas the standard Renault speakers if I turned the bass-boost on on HU I got a pretty deep sound yet right now it's fairly tinny and sounds crap.

I think I read somewhere that the crossover seperates the frequencies or something so I'm guessing this is the problem as obviously I have not yet installed the crossovers/tweeters.

yes that will be the main reason,youll also notice itll get louder when you fit your tweeters

where did u get your alpines from? and also tell me what they sound like when they're fully fitted as im interested in buying some

Well I bought some Rainbows from sextonsdirect.co.uk but they were too big (16.5" or something) and N!CK R from these forums PM'd me saying he had the Type R's for sale so I bought em.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the Rainbows now as the 7 days to return them has expired so I guess I'll probably keep em with all the rest of the junk I've ordered off internet and been to lazy to return.

Umm can't edit my last post for some reason but reading it back now I meant to say 6.5" not 16.5! Would take a fair bit of cutting to get those in the doors!

I'd also like to know how your system turns out, ive even got the Same Head Unit as you

But that Head unit is making it very difficult to play my sub through it...

Keeps making my Amp Short Circuit and blow internal Fuses...

Any Suggestions there??

Well haven't got an Amp or Sub linked up yet but the Type R's sound awesome!
Once combined with Amp n Sub they're gonna sound the balls!

How do you set the bass booster? ive looked in manual and cannot find it anywhere? played with the advanced settings as well?

have you put the positive and negative wires the right way around. some times this will make a difference.
