Front knocking?

Hey guys,

I appologise if this has been asked 100000000000000000 times before, but the search function throws up all kinds of crap whe searching for answers.

I have noticed the front of the car seems to knock when going over bumps etc.
The lower arms and everything has just been replaced, so I cannot see it being them?

Was wondering if there was a common problem which everyone experiences regarding this?

Feels like its coming from the struts, but cannot be too sure.
Car is on standard shocks and Eibach Sportline springs.

Cheers,

Nick

Give your callipers a shake, mine has some serious play (Think it means worn pads or buggered callipers) Shy of that the top of the suspension can cause it too I believe.

mine did something similar but on the right hand side, it turned out that the bolts holding my anti roll bar had come off, might be worth checking those, as ive heard its quite a common problem, simple fix though

Mine has recently developed a similar sound to yours mate.

Going over bumps you can hear a clunk from the driver side and the same for tiny pot holes. I know the bracket is snapped for my anti roll bar on 1 side but surely that cant be bringing the noise in. I was beginning to think maybe ball joints but had a look before and they seem pretty fine!

The gearbox also is moving right to left when the passenger wheel is turned!

French s**t! :(

On the suspension side of things.....

Ball joint or top mounts?

To check if balljoint is gone.. jack car up, grab the wheel at "3" and "9" and try to wobble it, if there's a lot of play, change the balljoint.

To check the top mount I think you can do the same, but grabbing the wheel at "12" and "6"

Hi mate,

wishbones and balljoints where replaced when i had the car only a few months before you bought it so can guarantee it wont be those!

I bet you its the top mount knocking as it did that a little bit when i owned it. Nothing to worry about and is a classic problem with all of them. you can either resolve it completely by buying bolt in solid top mounts or you can try buying some spacer washers. All it is is the turret mount knocking against the turret. Nothing to worry about dude.
