Front licence plate - Legal?

  ?
I know this might be the most stupid question ever posted on cs but...

- Is it legal to display both the front and rear licence plate? Im only asking because I've seen quite a few cars about without front plates (just rear) and was wondering if it is legal? (my plates currently off due to a bumper respray so was wondering...)

Ive had my front number plate off and in the window for 5 months now and never been pulled, been infront of police and behind and they havent said 1 word to me.

Been asked to hold the number plate up to a fair few petrol station camera's though :rasp:

Its the law to display front and rear number plates.
I know people that have been pulled for no front plate and fined.

Its to do with front facing speed cameras, average cameras on motorway that only read the front, reading insurance on police computers etc etc..

You mean without screws? Sticky pads or do what my mate does and put velcro strips on so he swap them for show plates at shows. seems to work well and cheap.

those sticky foam pads leave a stubborn residue if you have to take the plates off and they wont be reusable

Yeh I think this is what was already on my plates as it took a scotch pad and some work to get all the residue off!

But it could have easily been done with a heat gun and some polish, i was just impatient.
