Front Wheel Bearings

  Clio 190bhp Hybrid

Getting new suspension fitted on Monday and just wondering if its worth getting front wheel bearings replaced at the same time.

Using coilovers and reducing height by about 30mm so wondering if this will put more stress on things and bearing replacement a good idea?

How long should bearings last anyway?

I would do the top mount bearings at least. I would leave the wheel bearings until they go - but take care to have them both replaced at the same time.

Cheers Ben. Top mount bearing (think they call them Dome bearings) are being replaced as are the bushes.

Just wondered if it was worth getting wheel bearings done at same time. Have got MOT in just over a weeks time so sods law could fail on them if I dont get them done but will wait and see.

Wheel bearings will only fail the MOT if they have excessive play and are noisy when spinning the wheel by hand.

Wheel bearings do not, have to be replaced in pairs, just the one that has failed. They are not connected and Renault do not specify that they are changed in pairs.

Hope that helps.

Cheers all, thought it may be woth doing whilst the suspension is getting done FOC as I would just have to pay for the bearings and a small cost of replacement.

Might as well save 50-60 quid and wait a few years. Replacing the rear bearings as changing the disks so thought do front as well but will wait till it needs it.

i thought wheel bearinbgs were only bout £10 each so ide have em done just 4 the hell of it nad so i dint have 2 have em dun l8r on in life. but thats my op.
