Fuel Consumption

  Golf R32 & 172 CUP

Hi currently im drivinga seat ibiza cupra, and its not the best on fuel for other reasons i may be selling it and am very tempted on a 172.

Could someone answer these questions:

1) how much to fill up

2) how many miles on average to the tank

The tank is only 50 litre so when I fill up it costs around £30-£35 using Optimax.

I see anywhere between 240 to almost 300 miles on a tank depending on how Ive been driving.

Motorway driving averages high 30mpg round town is low 30s.

fill up on mine is about £40 i think, average MPG when driving normal is always low 30s, 32 normally.

When booting it out and about it can drop to about 25 for me.

My old VTR used similar amount if petrol funny enough?!

at the mo its at 29mpg can go to 22-26 when booting it when on motorway 36+ upto 52.9 i have had when been very very careful

I had a 306 Rallye before my Cup, and the Clio is a lot better than the 306 was!

Good thing about these small modern engines, great fuel economy! My 1.2 16v always puts in around 47mpg, no matter how hard i drive it! On the motorway i can see diesel-esque figures, though thats driving at like a constant 70, which is very hard to do when youre in a hurry!

new 172 delivers 40mpg approx to every tank so far, al lot of motorway miles, but knocking on a bit though!!!!!

Filled mine up last Thurday and have done 255miles and still have 1/4 tank left (Cup), average is sitting at 41.5mpg the now and average speed is 34mph. Mostly 60 - 65mph driving.

Our 172 gets a constant 25, but its nearly all urban driving, on the odd longer run gets up into the mid 30s.
Around 25 indicated on ours too. Have had 40mpg with careful motorway driving (eg: me in the passenger seat).

Wish mine would do that, I cant top 40mpg anymore, in fact I am lucky if I get above 37 mpg and thats not pushing it hard! help ;)

I seem to get around the 36-38mpg every week when I fill up. I do a 25 mile journey each way to work mainly around the 60-70mph mark.

Normally fill up around the 300 mile mark. computer says Ive used 6.5 gallons. (but we all know what the comps are like), gauge soon drops down after this point.
