Fuel light on with 1/4 tank left.

  Kawasaki ER6N
Was driving tonight and the fuel light came on with a 1/4 of a tank remaining it has never done this before. I went and put £10 in and the gauge went up to half and the light went off so I'm thinking the gauge is correct and it's just the light that's faulty?

Any ideas?

Funny i had this over xmas, was on notch above red and the fuel light came on and the trip computer read --- which means less than 1 gallon, i filled her up and the light went off, its now on red and the light has come on how it should do so its cured itself, i think mine may have been due to it been parked up for 3 weeks in the cold weather, maybe caused a dodgy reading somewhere

My trip computer has also been playing up recently. Fuel light coming on early then going back off (as above). And also reseting itself randomly.

Interested to know if this is a common fault and how to fix it.

My solution ali fill the car up with some vpower ;) i reckon it may have something do to with the cold, mine only did it when the temperature was below freezing

£10 got you from 1/4 to half??? I wish mine was this giving :( £10 gets me 1/8 of a tank roughly on the gauge

I always use V power Dean. By fill up do you mean brim it? That ain't happened in 5 years!

Where's my F1 programme? ;)

Mine is usually brimmed every few weeks and today was the first fuel light issue however I have had a few issues with the trip resetting.

Also always use vpower.

weirrrrd, if it happens again do the dash diagnostic trick then you can see in gallons whats left in the tank? if you dont know - ignition off, press and hold trip button and turm ignition to 2, it will beep and all the gauages jump about (so you can see if your fuel gauge is set right for a start), anyway leave the ignition on 2 and press the trip comp to go through various parimeters or whatever untill you see the fuel content, theres a guide on here somewhere with more info on what you can do with this trick (shows some ignition faults etc too i believe)
