fuel tank question

When the fuel light comes on does it just stay on or does it flash when its nearly out like on vauxhalls?

Does anybody know roughly how many miles ya can manage to get from it being just on red light?

As Maz said about 30 miles is usual when the light comes on.
Never known it to flash tho.

I've had about 50 miles on the red light but thats it.
Once it comes on it stays on.

I think I remember from my video that I got just over 43 miles @ 78 Cruising speed.

Fuel Tank has an 11 gallon capacity ( 50 litres )

When the light comes on there is approximately 7 litres of fuel left in the tank - depending on how tame you drive the car this could last up to 60 miles if your lucky.

Once the light comes on it temporarily records this on the ECU and it wont go off or flicker round bends etc

Handy tip - if your low on fuel stick to about 40 mph in fifth gear - avoid changing gears and roll down hills when possible. Knock off all unescessary electrical appliances and keep your windows up. Do this and even in a 172 you will see 45mpg ( 1.2 60 mpg )
