Full Respray - Where, and £££?

Good price that . I was quoted about £450 from a couple of places in Blackburn to spray my bumper after the next door neighbour scraped it and for a scratch on my door .

MrBillyUK !

I'd be more concerned about the quality, ive seen plenty of "good jobs" that on closer inspection were a right mess. Good finish requires time spent on prep and the more you remove rather than mask the better. Cutting corners to lower cost only leaves a substandard job.

Why would you need a full re-spray with stone chips and scuffs? These can easily be done by any good body shop. Feather edge repair. If they need to re-spray the bonnet they will but I would only have a whole re-spray if I wanted to change the colour or someone had thrown brake fluid or thinners all over my car. If it's a decent body shop it should not take them long to prep/prime and re-spray areas where there are stone chips and scuffs. It would cost hundreds more and a lot more labour involved to re-spray the entire car.

True . You get what ya pay for " usually " . I had some work done on the insurance at a place recommended by my insurance company Royal Sun Alliance , had it back 6 times for bad prep , bad paint , their words not mine .
So the so called best isn't always best . Word of mouth is sometimes a good thing , especially if you can check the standard of their previous work .

I finally got my bumper and door resprayed at a back street garage thats been there for years . Dropped it off at 8.30 in the morning and it was ready by 4.00 in the afteroon , £120 . Top job as well ;)

Why spray your inferno white . Pretty rare colour i hear , never seen one in real life myself , seen a few pics of infernos and they look stunnin' , imo inferno and black gold are the best colours .

Exactly!

It's the preperation that determines the outcome!

Prices will vary,
as will the quality!!

You would get a decent job from a smaller bodyshop, coachworks.

But places that specialise in paint work will 'generally' give you the best outcome,
but you pay for it!!!

I do all my spray work myself though, so couldn't advise much more really!

There was a discount token in Max Power or Fast Car recently (within last two issues) for a bodyshop that had done some work on one of the mag's cars. A full respray was around £650 I think.

because if it was white, it would be UNIQUE, as they didnt make them in white

Thanks for stating the obvious . Just think inferno is a top colour and it would be a shame to change it to a colour as boring as white , UNIQUE or not !!

i paid £850 for my G60 to be resprayed about 5 months ago but it was at a mate's garage so he did it for a great price!

you will probably be looking at £1500 for a reasonable job and thats just the surface.

if you want a full colour change which is a bare metal shell respray your looking at at least £2000 i would say as a minimum!

Agree

My last car looked bloody clean and tidy for an 11yr old car but on close inspection around the pillars/trim you could see plenty of laquer coming off where moisture had got underneath....the trim just hadn't been removed.

Definately better off paying a bt more for a good job and not have to have it redone in the future.
