Full revs at startup

  Clio 182
Hi,

Need some advice as I'm stuck as to what's wrong. Whilst taking the top of the engine to bits to change the sparks and test HT leads, having put it all back together, when I start the engine it goes straight to full revs! Any ideas?

I've tried cleaning the throttle body, it doesn't stick open so I can't see how this is happening. I also unplugged the ICV and the engine idled very roughly around 2 to 3k.

Thanks in advance!

Ah... just fixed it. It was as many might guess an "air leak"

The middle bolt from the inlet plenum won't tighten, so any ideas how to fix that would be great.

Thanks again.

Yes one of the 5 bolts at the front. The middle bolt to be precise!

I've put the gasket back on, it's all fine (well I won't 100% know until a new injector, it is idling slightly higher than normal).

Check to see if you have over tightened it and snapped it in the head i did it once, its easy to remove just remove the inlet and get some pliers on it, it twists out easy.

I doubt this will cause the high idle tho, it didn't on mine.

I can feel it spinning at the bottom so it must be complete?

But I will check this! I suspect once injector changed it'll all be ok as the others are tight.
