Future proofing a mk1 172

  Black Mk1 172
Hi,

I've got a black mk1 172 on 55K in pretty good nick that I bought from a member on here a few years back, and I want to make sure it stays that way! I wanted a bit of advice on everything I could replace as I've come into a bit of cash, and want to keep the car for a while - it's still brilliant fun and had virtually no trouble with it to now, touch wood ;)

It's been to Rentech a couple of times and had new standard springs/shocks, all the belts done, new ktec stealth exhaust and couple more bits (new leccy window motors, new hinge for rear seat that snapped...).

If I was going to replace everything else to keep it going, what would you recommend? New pads/engine mounts/anything else?

Any help appreciated!

Unless it needs the things replaced i'd leave it as it is. Otherwise you'd just be doing it for the sake of it.

its alwaya best to make the most out of the parts you have, even if upgrading you might as well wait untill the parts start to wear out!

your in a good position so get it in a bank use the most of high interest rates and wait for your car to break left right and centre ;)

Thanks for the answers everyone - it's not actually that much cash! It's just I might not have it spare when everything does start to fall off/snap/stop working (and it's definitely getting close to that time, almost ten year old Clio and that ;))

Think that brakes, mounts and brushes sound like a good idea, brakes are getting on a bit as it is

New calipers/refurbs
new pads disk lines
New mounts
ARB bushes
arb bar if rusted etc.
New wishbones
new driveshafts
new cultch
refurb gearbox possibly
clutch cable chnagd
throttle cable chnaged
new springs possibly
chnage all the fluids
underseal the car

But realy best stick the money in the bank unless you fell the car needs somehting spending on handling etc.
