G'day from Australia!

  RenaultSport Clio 182 Cup
Name is Steve, from Sydney in the sunny country!

My current ride is a French Racing Blue 182 Cup, with K&N Apollo and Milltek cat-back system (with a 200cell High-flow cat though). I previously had a WP 2004 Ford Fiesta Zetec (1.6L petrol version here!).

I've had the Clio since new for 2 years, and although it's been a rocky 2 years, I still love the car and can't see anything coming quite close to it's amount of fun (and character!). Plus, over here in Australia on ozrenaultsport.com we've all formed such a great community of friends, that it would be hard to sell it and buy outside the Renault brand! We don't yet have the 197 here... so... that rules that out.

I'm heading to europe in September, and will be spending some time in London (unfortunately I don't have much time to venture to Scotland or otherwise).

Now, given in Australia the Clio Trophy AND Clio V6 were never sold here... what would be the chances of seeing one up close in London and having a ride in it...to hear that sweet V6 rev!

I must also add that i'd be with another OZRS member, walkie86 (who is already in Europe) in London. So... that's two Australian 182 Cup owners looking for some V6 loving! It would be a dream come true...

Should I be asking this question in another part of this forum?

Cheers boys (and girls!)

Steve

*and sort of off topic - who are the major car rental companies in Europe?

Welcome fella.. im a regular visitor to australia and only recently had some aussies over to stay at mine lol i'll be back in Nov too.
My mate was always in my cup... he was shocked at how quick it was but we always had our argument that it was quicker or faster than his VN Calais Commodore lol... now he's got another and its the same jobbie... i'll have to find you when i get over in Nov to have a lil run ;)

Hey Dansta,

I think your friend has got his stats all confused! Unless the V8 (assuming his commodore is a V8!) has been worked, or meticulously looked after... it wouldn't be quicker in a straight line. And, would definitely not stand a chance once you add corners into the equation!

Hop onto OZRS before you come over to Australia - I'm sure something would be on... and if not the Clio Sport boys are usually more than happy to catch a beer and chat about the cars, or go for a drive during the day on a weekend! Hell, I think we might even be having a National meet happening in November. If you had time, you could see the Clio and Megane Sports in action on the track ;)

Welcome, my Trophys just a short train ride from london if you facy some B-road bliss?

Hmmmmmmmmmm... well I was contemplating using eurodrive (which is only available to people who live outside the EU. Effectively, you lease the car for no less than 21 days. So, I'd rent a Clio III 1.5L Diesel). This means I would be driving through Kent on the way to Paris. Which do you think is the easiest way to Paris? I researched... so far, Eurostar, plane or drive (so, car on the train).

Is there by any chance a ClioV6 somewhere around you?

Ultimate goal would be to sell the 182 Cup back home, move to the UK, buy a ClioV6 and live there for 12 months... then bring it back as a private import :)

And Sash, thank you heaps for the list! I'll start using those to price up different parts of my trip :)

Welcome to CS...

There is rather a famous Blue V6 that makes regular apearances in London, I've seen it twice and it's been up in or spotted section several times.

Reason for it being famous as it's driven by Elvis Presley lol (well a look-a-like anway)

Plenty or Renault Garages in and around London so you could have a look, not sure about a test drive though as you're not a UK resident...

Rental would be the way forward...

When are planning on coming over? There is ameet planned for Alexandra Palace on a Friday night (18th July)...more than welcome to come along

Hey Ali - I had noticed you were on OZRS in the last few days ;) Sweet ride! One day, one day...

Well, does Craig with the ClioV6 mk1 live in the direction of Kent?! I think I'm getting all happy down there just thinking about the V6 ;)

T5PHY... this booze cruise - how long does it take? Looks like driving or Eurostar is the option!

I am planning to go into a Renault dealership if I don't hire the Clio III Diesel 1.5... purely because we don't have the RS Megane Diesel, the 197
(or F1 or Cup), the Clio III altogether... and the Koleos is a few months off!

I'll be hitting London on September 6th... till the 12th or 13th I think.

Just so you know, below is my car :)

And Walkie86's (Alex's) car... he'll also be with me in London!

Cheers!
