GDI TORQUE

GOT CAR BACK FROM ANDY AT GDI ON WEDNESDAY.THE CAR DRIVES SUPERBLY.IT PULLS STRONGLY ALL THE WAY TO 7600 REVS AND THE SOUNDTRACK IS AMAZING.WHEN IT COMES TO MAPPING THE GUY REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF.COLD START IS GOOD TO.THE CAR FEELS REALLY TIGHT AND TORQUIE AND YET ITS SMOOTH FOR EVERYDAY USE.I CANT STOP JUMPING IN IT AND SMILING LIKE AN IDIOT.THANKS TO EVERYONE AT GDI:) :D .

If anyone wants to post any spam style digs they will receive infractions.

I along with many others are fed up with these pointless posts by a select few and as i said previously, i am still discussing the possibility of removing posting priviliges for certain members within the technical forums since they refuse to stop with their childlike petty comments. This also goes to area reps, who as ambassadors of this club should know how to act and not get involved with this type of pathetic posting.

can rev it higher for longer with the rods, well not much past 7900 (stupid lifters and poor head flow) :)

think GDI use QEP rods? which are pretty good, rated to 150hp (same as woosner etc)

i suspect rods and pistons have been fitted to up the comp, plus they need to rev it more as it wil have 428's or 421's. im not sold on the single boddie thing, benr shown me some cool stuff on a flow bench! it really is a science!

i would have gone for boddies, but then its not my car or engine LOL

Why would you want stronger rods tho? Peak power is normally a good bit below peak rpm?!

I can understadn with ITB's runnin over the 250mark or Forsed induction but not with 200ish...

i know, there not really needed, but if the rods are coming out for pistons, then for £400 for some china rods, cant complain, i would of left the BE, but again, its not my car

maybe cos they are lighter, better balanced and stronger than stock items.

plus gives you options for the future, if you chose to run wilder cams at higher rpm etc, rather than chosing to do so, then have to rip the engine apart for new rods. Called forward planning.

i am sure he wasnt at gun point to add them to the build. More than likely got given the info, and was told to make up his mind.

If your gonna do this type of engine work, you may as well do it properly.

Leaves nothing to chance if every component is up to scratch, especially if the engine is in bits anyway.

422 cams, need larger recess for valves hence needing pistons

rods for stength at high rpm, revs kill rods...

if the customer wanted to be sure of the BE being strong why shouldnt he...

not only do the pistons give the valve reliefs but increase CR... and they are stronger..

std pistons are not well suited to high rpm and higher cylinder pressures, they are not anywhere near as nice material as the Iapel items.

Andy, get me more power or stop tuning everyone's car as much as mine! lol

You should be pleased with that, the only difference i've got is ITB's. and don't they go well. easily kept up with a NSX on a trackday last weekend, well happy.

now get yourself racing and really see what it can do, i have, and it's quicker than it is on the road.

Can't wait for andy to get his own rollers, it will make my tuning easier.

i wanted to take the car on track and not to worry about ragging it so i told andy i wanted a really strong BE for peace of mind.also wanted to keep air-con and didnt want to cut into car bodywork for ITB;S.i think andys very close to sorting out a solution for this though ,so maybe a future mod.not sure i want anymore noise than i have and at moment am happy with performance i have.:cool:
