Gear knob broken or what?

I don’t do racing or crazy shifting, I’m very gentle with my RS III, but this morning for some reasons the gear knob was in my hand. Is it broken or just stripped off. Please advice how to fit it back. Thanks.

Normally these take a hacksaw, molegrips, sweat, swearing and tears to remove. Good opportunity to upgrade.

That's a nice knob. Mine is looking a bit tired and worn. Must be age and too much abuse.

How do I remove the nylon part? Is it rotatable or should I pull it off?

By the way, the knob on the previous pictures is not fitted, it’s loosely placed on top of the stem just to see the look. I’m afraid about the nylon piece that needs to be removed. But in case wanted to revert back to OEM can I get that nylon piece? I checked with my dealership and they don’t have it, is it possible to get a second hand?

I just cut pretty neatly down one side with a hack saw then pulled it off. If it ever needed to go back on it would glue well enough and nobody would ever see it.
