gear selector probs

alright, my mate has a Renault Clio, Versailles, 1.2 1997 it goes into gear fine, but once in gear you can move the gearstick around like in a bowl of soup. but it goes into every gear fine and drives great. its more lose in 1st,3rd and 5th. but a bit more harder to move round in 2nd 4th and reverse.

any ideas what it could be?

New dogbone mount 99% most likly there only cheap 20 mins to fit.
