Hi
I have just bought a 02 172. I knew it had had a new gear box well a refurbhed on anyway and also i saw a receipt for a new N/S drive shaft. I drove it etc etc all seemed ok so bought the car.
Next day when cornering to the left I was having a rumble and strange feelings from the car. So I took it to my friends garage and they took it out and thought the bloody engine was falling out.
After an inspection my friend noticed the drive shaft was loose and was moving around. On the old MK1 172 the used to have anti roll pins but this one did not?????
On speaking to renault they have informed us they think the gearbox is from the old MK1 172 and the drive shaft is not the one for that gearbox. My friend has drilled holes in the drive shaft and put pins in and this has done the trick no more rumble on steering left.
My question is, is it safe and have you ever come across anythink like this before?
