Gearbox + clutch change

Hi there! Didn't expect this to be my first post but hey ho. Anyone know any garages/mechanics in the London area who will do gearbox and clutch changes. Been quoted £1.065 for a gearbox and clutch change! I've only got a 2002 1.2 16v Clio. Was expecting around the 6-700 mark but not over a grand lol any one recommend anything?

Worst case scenario, you'll pick up an entire 1.2 Clio for less than that bill.

So that's a 'new' gearbox, with a 'free' car thrown in

Is that price for them to supply and fit or just to fit?

It was from a place in heathrow, if i remember correctly a recon gear box 495 + 200 fitting + 167 clutch + VAT witch came to that crazy total. ive managed to get a garage near by who will do a gear box + clutch change, with a service + new tyres for £850 all in. and ive got a year warranty on the gearbox and clutch. a friend recomended him so fingers cross. taking it in tomorrow. i was driving my mum to waitrose when all you heard was crunch in 3 gear and then a constant grinding noise. and then reverse just sounded horrible like crunching metal. so i was not happy when shopping yesterday haha

Get a gearbox off eBay or similar then get someone on here to fit it for you. I'm sure there will be a few around your way.
