Gearbox Issues

So I had my gearbox re-conditioned in November last year as it was jumping out of 3rd mid corner and wouldn't go in smoothly.

Was on a track day At Oulton on the 6th and it started to do it again but not as bad.

Example - come down the gears braking into a Corner, put in into 3rd about mid rev range let my foot off the clutch and feather the throttle and it will just pot out of gear.

Could this be a worn gear linkage or dog bone mount? Potential clutch?
Any suggestions appreciated.

What are the engine/gearbox mounts like? What's the condition of the dog bone?

It's one of the above - OR its internal in the box mate and it needs opening up again. The springs that retain the selector hub in gear have been known to go weak.

im having the same issues josh. got my box reconed now it jumps out of third. just check your mounts as i did have a similar problem last year and it turned out to be a knackered engine mount.

@NorthloopCup I don't think it is my box it's been reconed twice now, I will check the dog bone it's a power flex one however it's been on the car about 2 years (about 5000 miles) all Trackday mileage engine more mounts were near last year.

@bob the builder hmm will have a look good to know someone is having the same issue!

Yeah before it had its first re build it was a lot worse and wouldn't go into 3rd gear either

Not that I am aware of Black Diamond in Warrington (North West) around £400 I paid then when I said I was not happy with it they did the next replacement for a discounted price

£400 bill and they can't get it right!! there seem to be some right cowboys doing boxes, chuck a few bearings in and job's a good 'un!!

the more recon boxes i see the more cynical i get about the what people will class as 'recon'

worst i've come across was one with a gripper diff in, crown wheel and pinion washer were pushing together so hard when you started the car it would pretty much shoot of forwards!! this was built by a specialist gearbox builder...severaal times as the bloody thing kept exploding:tongueclosed:

New oil is a recon iirc :wink:
