Gearbox Knock SOund

Alright all

I was wondering if any of you had experience with your Clio RS doing the following.

Sometimes when i am sitting at lights etc in neutral and select first gear there is a dull knocking sound that comes from somewhere near the middle to the left hand side of the car. Its not the same knock as the ABS sound that is mentioned on these forums.

It hasnt really bothered me but i am beginning to wonder if it should and get it seen to under warranty. only had the car 2 months from new btw,.

Any1 have any ideas?

All 172s/182s do this; its a well known issue. Doesnt cause any harm tho afaik, wouldnt worry about it!

I had the same knock on my 182 fella..Took it to renault and had it sorted on the warranty although i cant tell you what the problem was as my bird picked it up and didnt ask them what the problem was..

Scott182 do you know how long it took them to fix it. i.e. how long did they have your car?

I get this too, its not a concern for me, its just a dull *dunk* noise.

They had the car for a day and a half mate..Had the exhaust sorted aswell as the clunk into first so couldnt say how long they spent on just the gearbox problem..

I get it too, worried me when I first bought the car but then read on here its one of those Renault "characteristics" and will cost more to fix than its worth. The engine mount knock is the one that really p1sses me off, no doubt youll get htat at some point too mate!
