Gearbox/linkage issue

  Radical SR3
The next thrilling installment in my Clio Cup ownership experience...

This car is without doubt THE worst car I've ever owned. If I could sell it and not be massively out of pocket it'd be gone in a shot. As it stands I believe there to only be a few issues remaining to get it sorted then have some fun with it.

The latest issue is as the title suggests, for no apparent reason, going into reverse, 2nd or 4th is now difficult to engage. After looking under the car the linkage (what a s**t design) from the shifter to the box is fouling on the decat!

The car will still go into all gears but with the clutch fully depressed, sat still, slotting 1st, 3rd, 5th there is no noise...just engine idle. Slotting 2nd or 4th however (especially 2nd) produces a mechanical whirring/ticking sound. It's not the engine, it's definitely the box or linkage.

Any ideas? how do you reset/adjust the linkage or check if it's bent or damaged?

cheers for the flood of replies ;)

I bought the shorter linkage from Ebay (£40)...took 30 mins to fit up and has a) cured the problem, b) made the gearchange so much more precise and notchy.

Now to sort the oil leak, refit the arb with the powerflex bushes and drop the new seats in, once all that's done it should be a semi decent track ****.
