Gearbox Mount

  190 BHP Willy 2

When i come through the gearbox when slowing down from about 2500rpm downwards the engine jerks about, clutch down and its fine. Am i right in thinking its the gearbox mount as it has as far as i know never been changed, and my car now has 97k on the clock.

Cheers.

possible, when you say gearbox mount do you mean the dog bone mount.....????????

check the top mount, gearbox mount and dogbone whilst your at it.

give the engine a rock with your hand, should feel solid with no movement

Sorry yes im assumeing its the dog bone mount.

Will try and investigate further in my lunch break.

Its also sometimes difficult to engage 1st gear which also indicates to a gearbox mounting problem, and has only occured since the jerking started. The gear stick also tends to move about quite a bit when you accelerate and let off, which is a indication of dog bone mount isnt it?

Cheers.

yeah same symptons here m8 i think. Although, i think the 1st gear problem might be a result of oil getting onto the clutch plates - yet to confirm.

How hard is the dogbone mount to change? and what sort of prices?
Thanks

Spoke to my mate last night who works at a Porsche race team and he checked it over and said dog bone mount is shagged, he also said the trouble with sometimes being difficult to engage 1st is all related to the mount. Ive got to buy the part this week and hell fit it at the weekend along with my track rod ends and discs and pads.
