Gearbox mount

Just went to pick my sis up from school today and as I pulled into the grounds gearbox mount went on the stupid thing. In at renault now having a warranty job.

Its a 172 (52 reg, 9300miles) anyone elese had similar problems??

Yeah.

Both the Engine and Gearbox mounts failed on my 03 172

Must be a clio thang, dont have a 172 but sheared my gearbox mount pulling out of junction (quickly). With the noise and jolt it made I thought Id left the gearbox in the road behind me!

had a few of the 172 gearbox mounts shear off.

the main nut comes loose and the stud shears off on its own.

I dont thnk the way I drive helps at all tho.

Have u had them done under warranty each time then sounds like something that will happen again and again

Im a bit angry coz they wouldnt give me a courtesy car as they had none, they could at least have got me a hire car, but anyway been hearing abanging noise for the past 2,000miles so at least i got to the bottom of it now!!!!

the banging noise was probably the nut working loose before the stud sheared.

My gearbox mount has snapped three times now, theyve replaced all the mounts twice.

Its a 53 reg 172 and its just done 4500miles, if they go again itll be dumped on Renaults doorstep and the Keys thrown through the service window at the w**kers who cant fix it properly! (No Disrespect to any RTEs here, just the ones ive met are incompetent)
