gearbox query

a friend of mine has a 182 and is getting a noise coming from the gearbox whenever its put it into 5th gear or reverse it dosent happen all the time??? its like a crunching noise....renault stripped it and greased it but it comes back

anyone got any ideas?

Badly adjusted selecter mechanism possibly.
Try another car though they can make noise.
