gearbox question

always wondered if you fitted a ph2 172 gearbox to a ph1 would it give even quicker acceleration due to the different gearing or would it just be the same? i know the ratios had to be changed in the ph2 as they are heavier and would have been slower otherwise.

Changes would be minimal plus you'd need a Cup box since the phase 1 172s use the speedo output sensor on the geabrox the phase 2 cars (Cup excepted) use the ABS for speedo signals.
