Gearbox Syncros & Crunching Gears.. Best Option??

Had my car out for the first time today on the track and its crunching some gears pretty bad.

I know its a common issue so a 2nd hand box seems pointless, so what have others done?

full rebuild? Just had syncros replaced?

Want it fixed ASAP as the car is near perfect on track otherwise!!

I'd buy a good 2nd hand box and then have it rebuilt keep the old box as a back up, 2nd and 3rd started to crunch on mine this was at 48,000, that was after running at 3 events.

Mine does that alot, i find if you put it in another gear first, then reverse its sweet. iirc the synchro doesnt work properly for reverse, or something like that

Think i have a spare gearbox to collect shortly, whats expected cost for a recon normally?

Thing is, id like to strip mine and repair as i know what syncros are at fault, but i dont know the spare box!

Ive read that a thicker selector fork helps, what fork and from where?

Also, should i get parts from Renault do it myself (mechanic) or leave it to a specialist?

looking into this aswell, used box here in holland is said to be about €500....and a rebuild €900...would make it worth coming over to the UK
Just have a problem with it regularly not wanting to go into first (no crunching or anything) just blocks.

My box has a slightly sketchy 4th gear. If I drive like a spanner and rush the gear change it will crunch.

I suggest to anyone first try taking your time with the gear change, don't attack it like your filming a drag race for the latest fast and furious film.

I reckon those may well be clutch related. I had the same problem on another clio i owned. Wouldnt go into 1st it was just solid, reverse also crunched. Changed the clutch and it sorted both problems.

But doing that then putting it back together is a b*****d if it turns out to be the box lol.

was told that too.....clutch feels ok though.
was thinking to do the clutch if and when i did the gearbox....might do it the other way around aswell.....might aswell change the box when i do the clutch
