Generic bucket seats £130 a pair - any good?

Just looked them up, they look better and are probably better quality being corbeau.
Does anyone know if its worth paying more for FIA approved seats? what makes them better?

You may as well fit a pair of farmhouse pine dining chairs.

Try a few out and get something comfortable. Steel framed seats are ok if you don't want to do more than about 2 miles.

How would these hold up in a crash?

Scrimping on seats and harnesses seems mental to me.

On a related note, do you have a cage fitted? I'd strongly advise a roll cage if you are going to strap yourself in a rigid position with harnesses.

I agree, I wanted to know if these are any better or worse than the standard non-FIA seats

I have just acquired a cage from -DAN- on the forum who is breaking his car soon, so as soon as he removes it I will have it in mine

I have never bought bucket seats before, this is my first track car, any recommendations on which seats are comfortable?

To keep it simple - you want to avoid a steel framed seat like that. Your Monoco Pro's etc will all still be uncomfortable - although FIA approved.

You'll be better off with a fibreglass framed seat. Consider the size also. You want to really sit in some before you order so you know they will hug you enough yet allow your legs to open! I'm a 34 inch waste and have standard width Cobra Suzukas (although they aren't particular cheap at about £350). They hug me like my first girlfriend. Although I've friends who don't skip leg day that won't fit in them - so it's definitely worth trying some out. I could sit in mine for ages and they are very comfy. I had some Monacos and it genuinely felt like you were sat on a pew after 5 minutes.

Harnesses are another conversation again. Don't get cheap 2" strap versions of them either.

If I was you, I'd be looking for decent, FIA approved stuff, second hand, out of date for competition. You'll get good quality gear at a good price.

Looks like I have more shopping around to do then. Cheers for the advice. Ill look for some fiberglass ones. Shame as they are so cheap!!
