gettin frustrated!!!!!!

I put post up about a misfire i was recieving at approx 5000r.p.m.Icant remember who said it could be theTDC sensor.So i took it in to the workshop where it was put on clip and no fault was found apart from a fault with brake switch connection.Fcuk knows what thats all about as the brake lights are ok.The other thing it found was a problem with the cruise control and speed limiter(it would do as there is no cruise control).Any way back to the story 2 days later i'm due to go out and cars perfect come out of pub misfire back and getting worse.Can any body shed some light on any thing else it could be.And where is this sensor located?Its a 2002 172 by the way.

[my friends lotus did the same! he got new plugs/leads got people to look at engine and everything, turned out to be the lamba (not sure how to spell it) sensor in the exhaust manifold.

his only did it at round 5k rpm to.

that brake light switch fault..

it means the brake light switch needs adjusting as its too sensitive.. mine did it.

every now and then (like 3 months apart) id hit the brakes and then serv ESP and ABS lights would come on, turn car off, turn it back on and everything back to normal for more months.

it could be anything, how do u know its a missfire, it may be somthing else? what clip was it a renault one or a gargae solis thing?

it was a misfire.what i call a misfire is like when the car is revving quite happily then cuts out then carries on running.And it was a renault clip

Has anyone tried the simple options?

dizzy cap, rotar arm, plugs, HT leads, coil pack, reset ECU, chanck lamba...borrow one off a mate and try it

sounds similar to the problems i had and that was lambda sensor

surely the toxic light or what ever its called would be lit if there was a problem with the lamda and it would show on clip.And i know i haven't a dizzy cap and rotor arm before any one says anything lol

mine didnt, worked quite well a lot of the time, but occasionally would do what you described. It almost got me crushed by an arctic lorry, but we went go there because i'll start slagging someone off.
