Getting a spare key made?

Guys, I only have one key for my 182 which worries me as my bf usually leaves the keys in the car :dapprove:

Im looking to get a spare made, is it expensive? Ive seen a few websites that offer this service & they say they need the key code, where do i find this?

im also interested in this, i had an issue with my key which i just literally now fixed.

the tiny smd switch had come away from the small pcb board, and the metal contacts with them, broke off.
i had to use silver paint to create painted contact pads and then glue the switch back on with uhu glue.

thing is, even i only have 1 key.... cant they be cloned at all, i really need a spare too.

the other thing is, unless i had the knowledge that i do about fixing pcb boards etc, i would be screwed! no more central locking etc...

Spares can be ordered through Renault and then programmed by Renault.

Otherwise, like nashers says, some people can do this while you wait, but you have to go to them as they need to programme the key to your car.

i went into renault in norwich today, they told me to have another key would cost £140.... thats when i went to maplins and bought the conductive silver paint for.... ten pounds! lmao.

renault can kiss my hairy ass at those prices. id much rather goto a independent garage and give them the bucks. not sure if anywhere in norfolk does it tho.

It is dear from Renault, I had one done (insurance), cost £140, the key was easy, but the fob came from France.

he would of come to me but the call out was more than the key(£75) ,so i drove to his house around 50 miles away so £20 ish fuel there and back.

My son paid for the new key at renault, otherwise i woud have ended taking it to and independant!! Got a free pre mot too!

i read on renault forums that apparently, you could have someone elses key fob, with your key on it and it can work providing the CAR recognises that fobs number. in otherwords in ALL cases, the immobilizer needs programming to the fob you want to use. and due to this, fobs arnt single use or something like that anyway. its the car thats coded to the fob, not the otherway around. if you think about it, that makes more sense. it also makes it harder, alot harder lol.

I lost the keycard to the wife's 200

I took it to renault and they reprogrammed the card and car so if somebody found the lost card,they couldn't use it.

When the new cardvarrived the programmed that card to the car?!
