Getting bored of the ph1 'track' car already......

  Discounted 1*2 parts
Always wanted to build a track car and having finally done it, i'm not sure its what i was hoping for.

Miss having the creature comforts, hate all the rattles and hate having to rev the nuts off the car to get any sort of power

Prefered my old 182 but as i've spent so much money on this car now, i'm a little reluctant to sell up so quickly

Opinions?

Buy £20 worth of tiger seal and put the interior back in?

Stripped out track cars are good for nothing other than sole track use imo.

They would be enjoyed and appreciated ten fold if you had a comfortable car to commute/run around in

Sadly, 99% of cliosport.net ''track cars'' end up sailing down the same river.

Always seems a good idea at the time.

(I am guilty of it myself too!)

Welcome back Colshe heed!

A track car should be used for track only, hence it being called a track car!!

havent got any of the standard parts left, sold them all. i never planned to sell so quickly and always thought the car would get broken for parts at the end anyway

Like I said before... You should have kept the 182 IMO.

should have done mate, although i do fancy something turbo'd again. I do like the speed of the 172 stripped out but just dont like thrashing it to make it go quick!

Yea, i always fancied doing this right back when i was in the vauxhall scene but its not all its cracked up to be :(

Do a trackday in it?

Fail to see the point of having a stripped out car for the road any more. I don't enjoy driving my Clio unless it's on track.

Buy a run about.

I like my ears bleeding on the way to work :)

I'm getting a motorbike to run me about but even after my car sitting on the drive for a whole week, i drove it tonight and still felt the same even after taking it for a drive on the twisties

Tom, you need to do a proper track day. One with fellow Clio owners and petrol heads and at a decent circuit. Drive miles to get there if you have to! But it will rekindle your love!

I could name several who refuse to drive over an hour to get to a track!

Mad :S

OP: Come to cadwell with us at the end of the month, will be a few CS's going, good track and not too expensive. Might be a bit of a drive but it will be worth it :D

This.

If you build a track car it needs to be on track at least once a fortnight to make it worth it, have you been on track yet with it?

Nearly everyone I know that has pulled all of the interior out (not just back seats, but plastics etc) has ended up falling out of love with their cars unless they are frequently hustled on track days.

If that is done it needs a full cage & painted interior (see RStunings PH1, or Jords PH1) to make it tidy.

havent been on the track yet, i wanna book one but trying to find one that is a day i can book off work and isn't £200

something tells me jus stick with it and it will be worth it in the end but something else says i want a 'nicer' car to drive

Crap, keep an eye out in the trackdays section, what about the oulton one at the end of the month?

Personally I think a stripped out track car needs to be a second car really, you need a van/barge for day to day use.

I'd love to properly strip out mine and track it like the RSTuning one but if I hated it then it would be so hard to put back to how it was.

How far in advance do you need to book a day off?

Trackdays are expensive, no 2 ways about it. And Cadwell is generally quite cheap in comparison to other places.

What about Oulton Park on 1st September? Via easytrack. £209 if you book now, £239 closer to the date. I can spare a place on this for £175 if anyone's interested.

Exactly right. There's no way I could run around in mine daily. It generally sits untouched in the garage between trackdays. I get absolutely zero enjoyment from driving it on the road! So I bought le Meg avec b00st

I can book time off at short notice but it just depends what other holidays are already booked. A lot of holidays are booked at my place this time of year

The oulton park track day in september sounds good. Is there a link for it?

I feel exactly the same Tom :( x

I have however thrown out of my interior so its gunna be major hassle getting it all back in so im unsure what to do atm, I even bought a passengers seat yesterday! Gunna cost me a good £150 more to get it in though as I need a subframe and harness :(

How can you be bored of the car ?! I never got bored of mine. It annoyed me at times but nothing major went wrong in 20k miles and it entertained me immensely.

Driving Dan's (danny172) stripped / bucketed / Mark Fish'd Ph1 around (usually like I stole it - GTA style, he's in the passenger seat screaming like a girl...) made me realise what a capable car they are.

The speed they can take a back road, or even just a little roundabout is just immense and neither of our cars ever failed to make me grin like a child !

Drive a van around for a week, or borrow a relatives Micra/Jazz/generic OAP mobile... you'll appreciate it more afterwards !
