Getting my car inspected (worth it?)

  Ph2 172 Cup
I generally do all of my own servicing, but since it's been a while since I've had a professional eye look over the car I'm wondering about getting some kind of inspection from a garage to let me know the state of everything.

What I'd ideally like is a list with a run down of the condition of everything and perhaps a top 5 hit list for non-service items that I should replace next.

My question is really, if I ought to be taking the car to a specialist, or whether my normal independant (who I trust) will be OK to do it. I'm concerned that a lack of specialist knowledge about the Clio might mean that something gets missed.

OR

I've got a specific problem of an undiagnosed 'hum' could be front wheel bearings (I don't think so) or something in the drive shaft? Should I just take the car in and get them to find and fix this specific problem?

Wouldn't an MOT find most things that could go wrong?

There is only so much you can do mate, the car is what 7 years old? If your happy to chuck loads of money at it "just in case" then that's fine. I personally wouldn't worry about it unless something feels wrong.

I agree with the swede.

However, I'm like youandi'm not happy unless my car feels 100%. So get the car to somewhere off here, JMS, BTM, Birchdown etc and get them to look over the car. It may cost you a couple of hours labour but thats about it.

What about that free Renault summer health check thing? Big thread in Clio Discussion about it.

I'd be wary of some places, they might just list things and lie, same goes with Renault, but they're free.

Otherwise an MOT or get one of the trusted guys on here to do it for you.

I hadn't thought of this tbh, if you know the people you were planning on taking it to then it should be alright, but I wouldn't turn up at some random garage and ask them to find things that are wrong with your car.

"Well, Sir . . . . "

Like revels says, get the free health check done first. Checks most of the important stuff!
