Getting the back end out in a Clio...

  Saab 93 Aero Wagon
I have found that understeer is a crap place to start. In my experience you need to be hooked up with good cornering speed before applying a little more lock just before the apex and then closing the throttle.

Yes but im talking about the wet roundabout tactic. Its crude but effective as a starting point.
Of course the initial understeer isn't pretty but we aren't all driving gods are we?

Nah I'm just saying that IMO understeer is not a condition in which you can induce oversteer in the Clio. Not in my experience anyway :)

Well i've managed it but the conditions were rather biased towards it happening.
In the wet, on a huge deserted roundabout. Was rather club footed with the throttle so the car went from lots of power understeer to lots of lift off oversteer very quickly!

Buy a cheap 205 gti, find a muddy road and brake hard into the corner ;)

Oh...and take a spare pair of pants!

Buy a 205 GTI, just Lift off mid bend on any turn with a decent amount of lock on and you will find some LOO - wet or dry, sod needing mud or heavy braking.

  See My Clio? Tell Me
seen a mini get the back end out on the last meet i went scared the s**t out of me just following it lol (narrow road walls on both side and no where to go if it went tits up) the mini wont even traveling that fast imo random

dunno why ya would wonna get it out ive seen all my m8 take corners sliding and thinking it cool i can get road them alot quicker with out sliding and to me thats more impressive then being out of control, just my opinion tho!

get to a skid pan if u want to learn how to control a car in a slide.

sideways is slow..although i can see your reasons for wanting o learn this, it should only be in a controlled area imo. if u do this on the road ur a prick that doesnt deserve his license.

just go around a roundabout to fast in secont then lift of, works for me.

Ha...Worked for me one xmas too in my 16v however i wasnt trying to get the back end out, it did and when i tried rectifying it i span twice, scary moment but it was late at night and i ended up right in the midlle of the dual i was going on to!!!

Lucky boy that night.

p.s c**k licker, why would you wanna get the back end out?? Sounds like abit of a daft question to me and you'll probably end up owning yourself anyway.

  lift number 1 @ btm
it's all about the left foot braking! you need to work the weight transfer into and out of a corner corectly. and stay away from the handbrake!!

C slicker, I am guessing your struggling because your not in a 1*2.

I am willing to bet the rear ARB and springs rates on the base model clios are much softer and reduce the likely hood of lift off oversteer.

Lift off oversteer is an excellent tool if you know how to use it. Safe and predictable in the right car and pretty tame in the clio compared to my 205 and even my 106.
