gggggggrrrrrrrrr

Just been to get the Clio serviced prior to going to Le Mans, turns out the car will need a new clutch and gearbox rebuild within the next 6-12 months.

clutches are cheap to buy though aren't they? gearbox I'd get one off Matt instead of getting it rebuilt, probably cheaper (get the Cup one too)

about £90 for a clutch

problem with 2nd handers is you don't know the history, you can bolt it in the car and it could be a knacker

Cup one is different to a 172 box. Still the same code, but Cup boxes have a drive for the spedo, a standard 172 (ph2) doesn't if iirc

^^yep, the cup box has to have a speedo cable, as it can't take readings from the abs, as the FF's do

How do they know it will need a rebuild? surely it's fine till it breaks?

My thoughts too.... there may be warning signs mind, crunching dodgy syncro's (sp) etc

Mines been crunching like mad since october and has got no worse/better.

Yeah i had a punto sporting that had release bearing failiure..... but it was showing symptoms a good year or so before it went bang. I just drive things like that until it breaks. Same with exhausts...... meh!

Great it's going to be on my first lap of the ring in july then. BANG no gears.
