Glass Scratched

  Bus Winker
I have some scratches on my rear window in a small area that look like someone has tried to cut into the glass with a key :S

Would the same method of rearing the headlights work for the rear window?

Using wet and dry then scratch x and super resin polish?

Thanks,
STRBramley

No you need something called jewlars rouge (sp) to polish out glass scratchs ( used to be a glazier and we used it on all our windows.. ) but IMO I definatly would not touch glass with sand paper

I've used this before and it works...

You need to fit the pad to a drill and work the area slowly to ensure you dont generate too much heat which in turn will warp the glass...

Its quite tricky and very time consuming but works...

Scratch x won't even touch the scratch - glass is super tough so you need something much stronger...

How deep is the scratch? If its very deep you'll still be able to remove it however the glass will look slightly distorted from certain angles...

Have a search as theres plenty more threads...

Removing scratch's from glass is very hard work - it's much much harder than removing paintwork marks. You'll be able to make the scratch easier on the eye however depending on the depth of the scratch it may be imposible to remove without distorting the glass...

I've had success with toothpaste on plastic and Autoglym glass polish on windows for scratch removal... plenty of elbow grease required!
