its a german company, I have had one since 1998 when I was working over there so long before gmail was around.

My brother has peter at gmx dot co dot uk which is a nice email address.

The site is all in german but i think you can change it to english like with all things German.

The main site is www.gmx.net and you can log in to the .com or the .co.uk mails there.
