God of War III (PS3)

PMSL @ the size of the bad guy near the end. No, not the dragon, the thing that the dragon is sitting on!

wikid... i actually thought gow2 was fairly lengthy (maybe because i could hardly play it due to a nagging mrs)

Awesome! Can't wait.

A mate's lending me his God of War Collection disc tomorrow - Actually pretty excited!

I understand they are releasing a trilogy with the HD versions of GOW1 and GOW2 in which case thats where my money is going!

GoW Collection (HD versions of GoW I and II) is available on import region-free BD (try eBay) - my mate paid £26 posted from the 'States.

Oh dear...

Downloaded the demo today and played through it. Its little more than a button basher :(

Yes you can swing together some sweet combos but you can just as easily win by repeatedly hitting a button - sometimes no need to open your eyes, which is a shame as the graphics are gorgeous.

I know I tend to compare things to Demons souls but the fighting mechanic is so much better in DS as you have a stamina bar and simply cannot mash the buttons unless you want a quick death.

I really liked the demo. :)

Been playing the 'Collection' (HD versions of 1 & 2) so like the story.

Can't wait, if I'm honest...

Where did you get the demo from?

God of War 3 is the most balanced. It's not quite as focused as GOW1, nor is it as lengthy and moment-packed as GOW2, but it's the most consistent and varied of the three, and when it's at its best the first two can't touch it.

Games Radar (in-house)
While not a huge leap forward for the franchise, God of War III refines its already-fun gameplay to near-perfection while delivering the clever puzzles, high production values and pure, rage-fueled brutality fans expect. Add a memorable cast of characters and buckets of gore, and Kratos’s last adventure is also his best yet.

Not even in my wildest dreams could I have imagined such a powerful, cinematic, and breathtaking conclusion to the saga of the Ghost of Sparta.

IGN AU
Even if God of War III isn't going to cause a massive rethink on the way you play action-heavy platformers, Kratos has earned an enviable position at the head of his genre's ladder - and we don't think there's going to be another hero quite like him, in a series as consistently outstanding as this, for a very long time.

IGN UK
For all God of War III's familiarity, it's a game refined with such grace and skill, there's no question that this is the absolute pinnacle of an already exhilarating series. Sure, it's a smaller, leaner beast than its predecessors but, as it happens, one that packs an absolutely unforgettable punch.

IGN
It's not perfect, with some uneven storytelling and progression here and there, but it's still a fantastic overall package. The combat is stellar once again, it's bloodier than ever, and it is at times the best looking game ever released.

Computer and Video Games
An epic, over-sized gorefest unlike any other. Sorry EA, Kratos is still the king of brutal brawlers.

GameTrailers
It's incredibly familiar and a bit brief, but God of War III still stands as a herculean achievement. A lot of TLC went into its creation and it comes shining through at every turn. The tweaks to the gameplay are minimal and the lack of titan interaction feels like a missed opportunity, but when Kratos is swinging his hypnotizing blades it's easy to forget that the rest of the world even exists.

GameSpot
Exhilarating combat and an imposing sense of scale provide a fitting end to Kratos' saga.

Don't think it's being released, mate. It was only ever penned for the US, I think.

Doesn't stop you buying one on Ebay or from abroad, mind. My mate got his on Ebay for £25 and it's brilliant. Just the first two games, but in HD.

sweet. getting heavy rain in 2 weeks. after that i think the collection and then III will be on the cards!!!

GoW III, as said in this thread, is looking amazing. I'll be buying. I still haven't got Heavy Rain yet (still sold out!) but I will over the next few days. I have BF BC2 for multiplayer, and then this and Heavy Rain for single player gaming.

any one have an idea when the collection comes to EU/UK?

Game were selling the collection (GOW 1,2 and 3) in a snazy looking case. was £100-ish i believe.

a guy from work pre-ordered seeing as they are no doubt going to sell on ebay for much more.

although they have since removed it from their website!

Infact, its this one and they are already selling for double for the price! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/God-of-War-3-...ideo_Games_Video_Games_JS?hash=item335aea9610

Thanks Scutch I will have a read, The graphics etc of demo were good but it was the core gameplay 'hack and slash' that I didn't like after the thoughtful combat system of demons souls. Much like going from forza 3 to Need for speed I should imagine a s a comparison.

haha it is a hack n slash game ( a good one ) any game after Demons Souls is going to feel a bit lame and lightweight apart from....Demons Souls 2 :rasp:

For me ( even though i think DS is one of the best games ever made ) i'm split in the middle , i'd like to see a game that has a bit more depth than GOWIII , but not AS solid/cuntish as Demons Souls.
