Going to look at my first clio today!

Hi folks,

Ive been after a car to get me from blackpool to manchester down the motorway for a month or so now as my current 95 mx5 is just too low and bumpy.

My sister has a 1.2 clio and the seats are really comfy,i didnt think about them as an option due to the lack of performance,i like a good drivers car,but then i saw the RS cars and thought thatd be spot on!

So today im going to look at an 03 172,it has 69000 on the clock and is going for £3400,looking forwards to seeing how quick it is and im hoping itll feel alot more refined than the mazda!

Hopefully ill be back later with more of an idea about these little cars.

Almost the same reason I got my 172 as well - coming from my MX5

Still kept the Mazda though, it does things the Renault can't

Cool,im keeping the mazda as its just so much fun to drive and you cant beat B-roads with the roof off in the sun!

Im thinking the clio might have a bit more kick though.

Id love a go in an Mx5 seemingly superb drivers cars..?

Seen that cosworth supercharger kit for it, pricey...!

I would recommend a 1.2 unless your going to be using the 172 for weekend blasts, 1.2 has same seats, cheaper INS, Tax etc if your keeping the mx5. But then you might be able to afford both comfortably. If you can then a sport is obviously the fun option.

The mx5s great,i actually came seconds away from buying an m45 eaton supercharger for mine but in the end decided against it,i had the cash in hand!

Luckily im in a situation where-by my dad needs a car and is willing to give me some cash to use the mazda during the week,allowing me to go up and down the motorway in the clio and then have a choice of which car to drive at the weekends!

Other options include a mitsubishi FTO or a non turbo supra!

Well what a nightmare,drove all the way to manchester to see the car and the dealer had forgotten i was coming and didnt turn up,gave him a ring and he said he was busy and couldnt get to the garage now!So back to blackpool without seeing the car but ill keep looking.

If you're keeping the mx5, and its for regular long motorway trips, id get a cheap derve to run as your hack, and keep the mx5 for fun

Cheers for the chin up folks.Id get a diesel but i work in scotland once a month or so and do some marketing work for knockhill so sometimes get offered a go on the track,if i got something sportier(like the 172) i could take them up on the offer and get the odd track day in too!
