Good value trackday pads

Searched, seen ds2500 and carbone lorraines mainly as the faves.

Not a BTCC driver so dont need the most awesome stopping power in the world with a comparible price tag... Just something thats pretty fade resistant and better than STD.

Will be coupled with braided lines and some decent fluid!

Reccomendations pls!

I'm getting on quite well with my mintex ones tbh, along with the brembo HCs. i haven't tried DS2500s though so can't compare directly.

did you ever send them back to be examined by CL Brakes through whoever you bought them from?

We have been selling lots of the RC5+ compound since it was released late last year and have not had one issue or complaint and this has been to a mix of race, track and road use. I spoke to our distributor when you first mentioned it and they had not had any issues with them coming apart either.

Which compound did you have, the new RC5+ compound is not too bad on discs from my experience compared to other pads with similar friction co-efficients

We ve got a set of Performance frictions in the garage for this year, If we ever get our car put back together.

well they shouldn't come apart like that so if you send them back we can get them tested. All manufacturing defects would be covered under warranty so you'd get a new set of pads.. As I mentioned we'd not heard of any issues before or since your pads so it sounds like something went wrong with that batch and its an isolated incident..

Plenty of life in them and only £44 squid delivered, I know I'm a pikey but meh....

I’ve got a set of 2500’s in my 200 at the moment (along with Brembo HC discs and Goodridge hoses) and took them on the track last Thursday. To be truthful they are a great pad and offered loads of fade resistant stopping power on the track and feel OEM on the road.

But I would like some MORE braking power, would the RC5+’s offer that much more power than the 2500’s??

I’ve heard that the RC5’s eat the paint on wheels and bodywork, is this still the case with the RC5+’s

The 200 is primarily a weekend/track fun car, but it is our 2nd car so will need to be civilised on the road for the odd supermarket trip, I don’t mind a bit of squeal – are there any other alternatives??

And I don’t mind the pad or disc wear rate as I will probably only do 2k miles a year and if I need to stick new pads in yearly then so be it.

I liked the bite on the Mintex pads. Decent for road and track application. Plus minimal dust and noise. Pedal was gettin longer after a lap of the ring tho...

I got a set of RC5+ all round in my 197 and after hearing all the stories on here i didnt know what to expect but they are very civilised, the sqeaking isnt even that bad!

Only thing i'd say is the brake dust is a little immense, but coming from EBC RedStuff i would expect that.

And the way they stop you is enough to put up with any side effect . :star:

I honestly can’t say the DS2500 pad offer much improved bite over standard pads. DS3000 is a different story.
