It's the "credit crunch" mate, they're turning the servers off a couple of hours each day to help.

The chances of Google being down, as in, not responding are near to impossible really. The infrastructure just won't allow it generally.

The closest you ever get is a message telling you if there's an issue.. but it just wouldn't time out.
