GPS without radio?

Hiya,
I'm over in the states and got Copilot America to help me on my way. It works great but the 'Flight Mode' disables the GPS hence I have to have the radio on and I receive calls and sms which costs me money.

My usual trick is to leave flight mode on but then manually turn on WiFi and use that to surf for free!

Is there any way to turn the radio/normal signal off but keep GPS on??

You don't have to reply to the texts or answer the phone calls though? :S
