Sony Cancels Gran Turismo HD To Focus On GT5

fter making a big deal about Gran Turismo HD at E3, and then making an even bigger splash at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony today revealed in an online letter that they would be canning the project as we now know it. However, all is not lost. Sony will be releasing Gran Turismo HD Concept in Japan as a free download on December 24th. Polyphony has stated that they scrapped the project to fully focus on Gran Turismo 5.

The content will include Polyphony’s next-gen Gran Turismo driving engine. How many cars or tracks will be included in the download is undetermined at this time. We’re still waiting on official word from Sony whether or not this content will make it stateside.

However, from our experience, if you make a Japanese online account with your PlayStation 3 you can access the Japanese PlayStation Store. Merry Christmas! Note, whether or not this changes by December 24th is unknown, but we’re keeping our fingers and steering wheels crossed.

according to the new PS3 magazine its still soming out so when was that reported?

they saw GT5 will be out in 2008 sometime so GTHD is the filler and its a HD port of GT4, the difference being you pay very little for the game and get a couple of tracks and cars and all other cars and tracks need to be downloaded and paid for, something like 60p per car and £1.50 per track which to me works out pretty expensive, much more than everything being included, i would much rather pay for it upfront.

It also says that the psp version has been put back until after gt5 is released too, bummer.

so i wonder whether gthd is coming out and whether we will really have to wait until 2008 for gt5?
