tried to do a quote but what I do on online things like this is put my name as 'Junk mail' so anything that comes through the post is easily spotted.

I got an email back saying:

Dear Mr Junk mail

We thank you for taking the time to complete an online quotation enquiry.

Unfortunately the details entered into the system do not fit the required criteria for our specialist schemes.

Additional Information:
Ficticious name

Sorry we are unable to help.

Greenlight Insurance

So I thought fair enough I will use my real name if you are going to be fussy, to which I got the reply:

Dear Mr iain ______

We thank you for taking the time to complete an online quotation enquiry.

Unfortunately the details entered into the system do not fit the required criteria for our specialist schemes.

Additional Information:
Application under prior ficticious name - terms will not be provided

Sorry we are unable to help.

I believe I have been well and truly served!

I tried 5 times to get a quote with this company. Filled in the computer details, wouldnt give me a price, rang them up and couldnt get hold of them through the automated system so gave up and went with Elephant

automated system? there's a legal rights recording and then your through... i've never had to wait more than 10 seconds to get through.

This was a saturday morning some 6 months back during their ''stated'' office opening hours. I tried it online, never got a quote sent at all so rang them up, from memory it was something stupid like press this button if you have a modded car blah blah blah then nothing would happen.

I didnt have time to wait till monday so went with Elephant instead.

Shame that Neil had to leave this forum, he did a lot of people favours when he was here.

Very true, Real shame some have to spoil it for the rest of us.

It would be good if we could get greenlight back on here someday :approve:

I believe the policy only pays out for mods if it is a repair job, and will pay market value for a standard car for a total loss. That's how they explained it to me the other day when I renewed.

They recommended that I should have an agreed value policy instead so I am guaranteed a certain sum in the event of total loss. It's less than I think the car is worth, but better than nowt.
