Hi

I have just received my order from GTechniq this morning. I went for P1 Polish and C2 Liquid Crystal. I have read a few good and bad things about these products but was wondering if anyone had any experience of it . For the price you don't really get much in the box compared to Sonus or AG. Also there isn't really any instructions for them.
Am I right thinking that this is how I should use P1 and C2

Wash Car
Clay Car
Wash/Rinse Car
Apply and Buff off P1 ( by hand)

Then is it a case of applying C2, or do I need another product after P1?

Many thanks

Tom

P1 is a polish. You don't apply it, rather work it as you would a polish.

I've used it only a handful of times and like it by hand. Yet to try it by machine as I don't have my kit in London.

C2 is epic. Spray on a panel at a time and buff off. That's it. Also works well on plastics, glass, rubber etc. Beads well, looks great, easy to apply, doesn't smear...

Ok thanks for that,

So sorry for the stupid question but what order should I use these products in, obviously P1 before C2 but is there anything in between?

Thanks again :)

C2 needs to be applied to a perfectly clean surface otherwise durability is reduced. So best if possible wipe down after polishing with IPA or a panel wipe. If application is successful then durability is very good for simply 5 minutes for application.

If working P1 by hand did you get their triple foam applicators? what kit did you get? I like P1 by hand for small areas of correction but still not got used to using it by machine. Do your full cleaning stage before working the P1, buff off, wipe down then C2.

Videos can be found on most products on there website for application. I've used P1, C2 and G3 on the girlfriends Golf to good effect.

A more in depth answer from Dave, as per these days ;)

As above Tom. Due to lacking time and space for detailing these days, C2 really is a god send.

Cheers JD, I kind of feel we've picked your brains so much over the past few years I'll try and help with the more simple questions.

C2 is a great product and I'll be using it on my car over the winter. It has great self cleaning abilities that even after a heavy shower or good rain a lot of the dirt is rinsed off. I have found though that it needs topping up with diluted C2 at 1:20 once a month to maintain great beading and sheeting.

I'm currently testing it on my roof with a single coat and no top ups to see how long it can last. Been on approx 3 months now and sheeting and beading has reduced quite a bit but cleaning is still easy and nothing is really sticking to it yet.

Hi,

I bought the bada bing bada boom kit which consists of P1,A Sponge, C2, A bottle for mixing C2 , Drying Towel, Quite a Few MircoFibre CLothes and Some pads that look like what my gf uses to remove nail polish lol

When you say full cleaning stage , meaning Wash, Dry, Clay , Wash, Dry then P1 , is there no need for anything else? Sorry for being thick lol

Cheers

Tom

A decent wipe down with IPA will suffice, so wash, dry, clay, wash, dry, polish, IPA wipe down to remove filling oils, C2.

The point Dave made was that all Last Stage Products last infinitely longer if the surface is optimum for their bonds. So a wipe down with IPA will remove polish and oils that fill the marks in your paint, allowing a stronger bond = better longevity.

eBay or other suppliers for IPA.

All as JD has said. providing you're happy it's clean, give it a wipe down to remove any oils etc and go apply C2. You don't have to use P1 unless you want to have a bash at some correction or de-oxidising? I don't use it every time I apply.

I started off with the same kit from GT but it didn't come with the make up pads, I presume these are for applying the C2. I just used a clean MF cloth to apply, turn it over and buff into the paint and another clean to buff off. Buying the P1 and C2 seperately you wouldn't get much change from £35 so as a kit I think it's quite good for what you get.
