GTR2 (fia gtr) on pc...

Anyone played/ own this?

Have been a big fan of gran turismo, and forza motorsport in the past, just wondering what was the best driving sim for pc?

Was gonna buy gtr1, until i noticed that the second one had been released in june.

Not keen on the idea of toca race driver, have no interest in half of the different genres of racing on there, seems to detract from the rest of game.

So gtr2's not even out yet? bugger, might just get gtr then.

No not out yet.....but get the demo tommorow theres gonna be 2 cars to choose from and from what ive seen looks awesome.

Will defo be playing the demo all next week



I would say though with GTR it is a pain when you first play it i give up i found it that difficult to control the car....Id defo recommend a steering wheel as i found it impossible without.

Lol, sounds good to me! the harder it is to play, the more fun when you get it right.

Demo's up tonight by the looks of things.

I used to love the original GTR addon, then the Official GTR and GTL is amazing, I still play that at lunch at work.

I don't think I can face another full on GTR at the moment. I don't have the time to setup cars etc.

I'll see if they dumb it down a little for the 360 when it comes out on that.

Yep i've got GTR and GTL, both excellent sims, but GTL is more fun.

Dont discount Live For Speed though, its pretty realistic and excellent for online racing. rFactor is another one worth looking at. You still cant really beat Grand Prix Legends if you want seriously realistic stuff.

Just had a quick go at the demo. It sounds amazing as always, graphically it's an improvement over the last one that's for sure.

I tried it on keyboard as attaching a wheel to my desk during the day wouldn't do down too well. I'll try it again at 5.30 with a wheel.

If you can get the first one cheap it's an amazing game. I prefer GT Legends though at the moment. All that arse out action in some classic cars.

Maybe get that then get GTR2 later, rather than having two very similar games.

The other good thing with GTL I find is that I have just as much fun in the original Mini Coopers and Lotus Cortina than in the much more bigger and powerful cars. Similar to GTR, I suppose - I rarely go anywhere near the mad Ferrari's and Saleens. Porsche GT2 however, now that's a different story

Rex - I think ukaskew was selling both GTR & GTL in the 'Other for Sale' section. Definitely worth it if you don't want to pay full price.

Just had a quick go with the wheel. Even with all the driver aids turned off it feels alot easier to control than GTR did, but that could be car selections or maybe they've set them up to be quite easy to drive in the demo.

The game feels a hell of a lot faster and smoother. Even at it's highest settings it flies. But then I do have an X2 4800 and two X1900XTs.

I still love the sound, the rore of the engine, the gearbox whine.

^^^^ - straight-cut teeth in the 'box making their noise heard? That's what I call detail! Have they made the turbo noise more audible? I thought it was a bit weak in GTR.

Just downloaded this now and tried it. Very impressive. Of the two cars available in the demo, I found the Lambo easier to pilot. Seems the graphics have been overhauled - so much so that they appear smoother than either GTR or GTL and yet have more detail.

Nothing specific for X-Fi audio support (BOO!) but the sound is still great, nonetheless. A definite purchase is on the cards for this one....

Ive heard you can add the cars/tracks from GTR1 and add them to gtr 2.
