GTR2 Ring Lap Times

Know a few of you are into this, I'm addicted, mainly to the Ring addon, so how about some times to beat, time trial mode, Nurburgring Tourist layout, Lotus Elise, I've just done it with standard settings, so full tank of fuel etc

Easily a good 20-30 seconds that can be knocked off that with practice I reckon, but its summit to beat ;)

I've seen old posts with Ben battering everyone else on this game, so looking forward to seeing what he can do.

Last nate managed a 7:31, but still room for improvement, 7:20 is possible I think but you gotta be smack on every apex and braking point to get close to that sorta time in the Elise.

I'd imagine you need quite a high spec PC to run GTR2?

It's actually quite easy-going on the hardware, so long as you turn the detail down. I had it running on the works laptop and it didn't play too bad. When you start to tick options like hi-res dashboards (which needs a 256MB gfx card, iirc) hi-detail wheels, car livery, etc - then it does sap the power a fair bit.

I've got a 7900GTX in mine and I run it with everything set to full. :)

I'm running it on my Dell 9400 laptop with C2D 2.0ghz processor, 2gig ram and 7900gs grpahics card with everything on maximum and 2x anti aliasing at 1920 X 1200. Runs perfectly, very smooth. Only problem is it does take a while for the tracks to load. Presume thats down to the speed of my laptops harddrive.

My PC spec is as follows:

Gigabyte DS3 mobo
Pentium D 805 (clocked from 2.66 to 3.4)
2 x 512meg corsair ram (clocked again lol)
Asus 7900GS (clocked out the box)
1 x 160 gig SATA2
1 x 500 gig SATA2

Everything ticked, full res, runs fine, my old graphics card however, FX5200 couldn't run GTR2 smoothly even with everything off. Really need a better PSU as the CPU will clock to 4.2 fine on air cooling but I soon as I start gaming theres not enough juice for the card.

Anyway, get some lap times done, I finish work at 5 so will be having a bash at beating 7:31 tonate.

Most definitely. Managed to have a 5-course meal plus drinks before Donington loaded up properly on the laptop. ;)

That is quite true, I needed a wee, rushed off squeezed it out as fast as I could, washed hands, sat down and it was just getting to end of the loading bar! LOL.

7:31 same as me then, its possible to shave seconds off that tho, 7:20 is possible with practice in the Elise. Reason I said the Elise is becuase its slow you really have to be on the ball to get the best out it.

Corvette, I'll have a go with tonate.

yea, i span once.......couldnt string a full clean lap together as you had to push so hard to get anywhere, got frustrating....understeer hero.

I bet doing a lap in the Toledo would make the Elise look like it was on rails...

I should get off BF2142 and put a few laps in.... :)

Vettes difficult to master, need practice but off out tonate, tomorrow I'll smash that time.

7:44 so far in the Vette.

That Porsche I'm not a fan of, the front gets very light round some of the lifts and dips and the backs way to lively under braking at times.

The Z3M I find quite entertaining and the M3 GTR, both like to go sideways if provaked.

What wheel you using Ben?

One thing I have noticed, why are you temps a lot lot hotter then mine???

your in celsius and i'm in fahrenheit.

I'm using a joypad thing, dont have anywhere to clamp my wheel which is a logitec momo thingy.

Posche takes some skill, thats why i love it.

Them times on a joypad are impressive then lol I'm using the logitec Momo, changing gear with the sequential thingy on the side and have GTR2 set with 100% force feedback, don't half build up the muscles lol

To be fair, Porsche doesn't take as much skill as the Vette imo, so long as you brake in a straight line the Porsche is fine, you can nail it mid corner and the rear will stay planted, the Vette steps out much easier if you apply throttle mid corner but you can brake later into bends in the Vette without worrying.

I thought the vette was easier, can just sling it around willy nilly.

The morgan is good for oversteer.......but the rarris and lambos on the ring are freaking hard.......
