Had a bump :(

  MINI Cooper S
Was stopped at a roundabout earlier, BMW in front of me started to move, but then obviously stopped, I thought he had gone, so I edged forward very slowly looking right at the roundabout, then went into the back of him at 2 or 3 mph :( thank f**k he had a tow bar, no damage to his car, so we didn’t even swap details and he went on his way. Damage to my car is to the driver’s side of the number plate some of my bumper has been cracked off, and then the metalwork behind that right near the air con compressor has a round tow bar shaped dint in it. There is no damage to my radiator or any mechanical parts, however the gap between my headlight and bumper on the drivers side is about 1mm, and on the passenger side is 3mm, I don’t know if it was like that before and I have just noticed it, but either way it isn’t right. The bonnet also seems to have a little bit of play in it, it does lock down on the main lock, but if I push down on it, it will move down about 5mm and then when I let go it will spring back up 5mm, I have never noticed this before either but again, I don’t think its right unless anyone else’s does it to? (my bonnet catch is in very good condition, no rust, and I have lathered it in liquid grease following the watchdog thing). Will get some pics up later; are there any other parts that could be damaged that I need to look for?

Thanks, Danny.

Unlucky mate. Its easily done.

It sounds like you've given it a good look over. Thing is with hittin a tow bar, the area you damage is fairly concentrated so shouldn't be much more than what you've already described.

Hope you manage to get it sorted.

Right, took it to my mate and he said he'll sort it all out for between £120 and £150 depending on how long it takes. This sound reasonable? (to plastic weld bumper, i have the bit thats missing, re spray, and straighten the impact metal behind the bumper).

Can see the bit of bumper thats missing in the pics, and then the headlight pics show the different gaps between the bumper and the lights.
