Had a race with a CTR!

Or so i thought, it was actually a Civic Sport in black with a smaller version of the CTR wheels!

The baseball hat wearing bloke had a mate in with him and he was making some stupid over taking moves, so of course, i followed suit. It was actually pretty damn quick, so at this moment in time i presumed it was a CTR, and then we got to a roundabout! I got on the power a lot quicker than Mr Civic and caught up quite a bit, which is when he saw me. I can only presume he saw the numberplate as he suddenly backed off. I was quite happy to slow down as i was quite satsfied that id show him he was not Schumacher. In the midst of revelling in my ego boost Mr Civic then slammed on his brakes until we were doing about 5mph. tw*t! I could see his beady little ideas in his rear view and his mate had turned around. I felt like giving some back but realising i had to have lunch at some point i took a side road and went on my merry way. And i thought all honda owners were old grandads or power hungry Japanese 20somethings! Theyre like blimmin saxo drivers! Theres also a nutter in a real CTR who goes to stupid speeds on the road where i live. Clio owners beware!

According to parkers, the next quickest thing after the CTR is the 1.7 I-vtec, 125bhp, 0-60 9.6

Thanks, i guess thats what it was then.

Ive found more about it taken from auto express:

Honda bosses have also re-vealed plans to offer British customers a cost-cutting performance body-kit for entry-level Civic models. Buyers who want the styling of the hot model but are keen to keep their insurance premiums low can pay £2,500 to have their standard three-door car enhanced with Type R bumpers, skirts and spoilers.

The new car will use a similar set-up to the flagships, and will share a number of suspension and steering components. But the real ace up Hondas sleeve will be the price. The Civic Sport looks set to cost around £13,500 – a massive £1,500 saving over both the Type R and the Focus ST170.

£13,500 for a car that does 0-60 in 9 seconds and 125bhp? Isnt the Cup similar spec inside? For the same price? With a late 6 seconds to 60? and a "massive" saving of £1,500 over the Type R, the Type R is £15,995 int it? £13,500 plus £1,500 = £15,000. Autoexpress have done there research well ant they!

Erm,

Theres also a Civic Si, 2 litre 160 bhp which parkers do not seem to be aware of. Comes in 3-door or 5-door guises. AFAIK this car does 0-60 in the mid-high 7s.

robfenn

so rob i am a dumbass because i own a CTR.i can assure you i am certain things, but not a dumbass. how can you possibly make such a pathetic statement i am not quite sure.

get your calculations right CTR 16k plus A/C £1270 doesnt make £18k.

lol a joke, hence winking Mr Horne.

I was thinking of other add ons a CTR owner would think of, when buying a car most people add on a few luxuries.

the genre of a type-r is that luxuries were never really a consideration, even though a lot of people say the CTR is a compromise of that ideal.in reality i think Honda did a fairly good job of turning a square wedge mini-mpv into a good looking fast MPV/hatch. IMHO.
